Joinville

Recently, I have again fallen into a Freudian slip, like the one I shared here in 2021. Personally, I love Freudian slips! They talk a lot!
Again, I was chatting with a Brazilian friend, when I mentioned that I would be in “Joinville” on Saturday to take some stuff from London’s house. London is the city where I lived for the past three years, where I built meaningful connections and met incredible people, just like when I lived in Kitchener. Joinville is my hometown in Brazil, where my family lives and I feel a sense of belonging, filled with memories and love—a place I used to call my home.
The Freudian slip is a well-known concept, often associated with a silly mistake. However, when closely approached, these unintentional mistakes can bring meaningful insights. It’s interesting how the same slip happened twice, right after moving to a new city, while referencing the one I had just left. As I always say, it is a precious raw material to shape a deeper perspective of life! Thus, I began to realize that my subconscious might want to tell me that Canada is my home – a place I have chosen to live, also filled with affection, belonging, memories and love. So, why do I still resist accepting it?
In 2025, I hope to keep finding “Joinville” in every person I meet, through relationships that nurture my heart, fuel my love tank, and help me become a better version of myself, while also adding value to others’ lifes.
Something came to my mind while writing this post. Both Freudian slips happened while I chatted with a Brazilian friend, speaking in Portuguese. So, would the same slip occur if I were speaking in English? Well, it seems I have found another theme for a future post 😉
Happy 2025! With love,
D.E.B
