Coffee with myself
Last week I met my 20-year-ago self for a coffee. It was just the two of us, enjoying each other’s company, sharing thoughts and confidences. I ordered a coffee with almond milk, and she asked for juice and a piece of cake.
How pleasant was to be with her! A mix of sweetness and melancholy, added by passion and enthusiasm. Perhaps a little bit anxious, eager for some answers.
I started talking, trying to make her comfortable and allowing her to be herself. I know it takes time. Then, she asked me a lot of questions about her future, expecting a lot from me, which made me uncomfortable at first, but I knew it was part of her perfectionism.
There were also a lot of quiet moments, since we are good listeners, just observing each other. We were always like that!
My Dé (how some people called her at that time), “sometimes, you can’t make it on your own”. If I could give you some advice, I would say: don’t hide your mistakes expecting to be loved; take risks, be courageous; trust in God; listen to your mom, sisters and true friends, and ask for advice! I know you are strong and can handle a lot of things, but ask for help and speak up, okay?
Then we realized it was time to go, and we hugged each other! Of course, we would hug! So, I went home expecting the next coffee, when I will invite myself from 30 years ago. I’m looking forward to it! 😊
What would you say to yourself from 20 years ago? Is it the same thing you still need to hear today?

Muito show De. Eu diria para mim… “Confie sempre em você”, Não tem problema errar, Não se preocupe com que os outros pensarão de você.

Lindo, que conversa boa!
Estou aqui pensando o que diria para mim, talvez seja: “seja gentil consigo!”
