Perfection

Last weekend I was listening to a song named “Song for Someone” by U2.
In the beginning of the song, during a Paris concert, he said:
“So here I am in the box room Cedarwood Road, age 18. Trying to write a perfect song for a perfect girl called Alison Stewart. Keeps telling me she’s not interested in perfect. I guess it means I’m in for a chance”.
It made me wonder about perfection. I could imagine a boy writing pages and more pages of lyrics, giving up some notes because it wasn’t perfect. When all she was looking for were ordinary words, anything else.
It inspired me to write this first post, without perfection or being sure about it.
Then I started to believe in English, with imperfect words. Maybe I’m in for a chance…
Is there something that you are postponing, just because it’s still not perfect?

I love your post. Perfection for who? for what? I “vou” buy a book: “A coragem de ser imperfeito” de Brené Brown.

Thanks Lidi! Good to know, it looks like a good book recommendation 😉

Dear friend! I loved your post and it really made me think about how much I am afraid of getting exposed on social media. Your blog encouraged me to go ahead to help people who need my knowledge! I’m sure your blog will be a success and will contribute a lot to other people’s lives! “A bear hug”

Dear friend, what a text! I think one is seduced by perfection because it might mean ACCEPTANCE. Once I was seduced by it. But thank to the time, maturity and therapy I got out of the perfection prison. Thanks for writing and making me think…
Debora
Thanks Aline! Sure, it’s a kind of prision, and we always have to be aware about it, taking care of our hearts.
