Backspace
When was the last time that you used the backspace key? Maybe while you were writing an email to your boss? Or while you were writing an essay at college?
I use this key a lot, especially now, while I am still developing my English language skills. My creativity process is quite dynamic. Sometimes I start writting about a subject but I don’t publish it, just keep it in my notes, portions of ideias that one day will meet other contexts. It is like a set of thoughts that turn into something meaningful after puzzling different parts.
The backspace shows us our capacity to undo things. We are able to restart and even change our mind – especially when we intend to make them better. Being willing to go back and start over is essential for adaptation and creativity!
Backspace could be a career change, start a new course, different strategies, new challenges or being an entrepreneur. Sometimes you have to take two steps back to take ten forward. It shows open mind and flexibility – some soft skills necessary for any employee.
I have 10+ years experience in Human Resources and enjoy working with people from all walks of life. While in Canada, I have volunteered and also worked in a manufacturing industry as I establish my career path. I took two steps back to take ten forward! While I was working there I had an opportunity to share some employee development ideas and the company was welcoming and implemented one of them. This work experience introduced me to the Canadian work culture and the HR initiatives.
You don’t need to be an immigrant to take two steps back and also it doesn’t mean that you have to quit your current job. Being open minded to different opportunities is the key, use this key in your favor.
By the way, my Chromebook doesn’t have delete and caps lock keys. I guess it makes another article 😉
