Journaling
Do you remember journaling during your childhood? How many secrets were kept under lock and key, describing in detail our experiences and discoveries. It reminds me of a friend who used to write a diary when she was a teenager. Her two brothers always tried to read her diary, doing craziest things to be able to reach it. Her words were precious for them, but for her it was most important.
Journaling is a kind of meditation, an altered state of mind, a catharsis. Catharsis is an emotional release, perpetuating your thoughts on a paper – a register of your soul. Besides, reading what we have written also could be a power tool, making us listeners of ourselves.
Like any other habit, journaling demands practice and time. Again, like you handle grief, there is no right way to build it. You will find your way. Choose how you intend to register it – a diary, a file on the computer, a note. Also, determine how often you will write, and pick a pleasant place, followed by a cup of tea.
Keep in mind that it might not work for you, but who knows? Maybe it will be a special way to connect with yourself, whatever it is your moment!
Writing about this theme was also a kind of journaling for me. Actually every article brings something of mine, makes me look into myself.
I remembered one article that I wrote while moving to Canada, named “Cactus’ cycle”. You can read it here.
