The hole never fills, but new life will grow around it.
As you may already know, I enjoy watching TV shows such as “Friends” and “Sex and the City”, currently relaunched as “And just like that”. Carrie Bradshaw inspires me to write about ordinary things, especially after a cup of coffee or a drink with my girlfriends!

Usually, I watch some episodes while walking on the treadmill. Then thoughts and insights pop up in my mind like popcorn. It’s amazing how productive these indoor walks have become in my life – more published articles and fewer pounds on my scale. 😉
In today’s episode, Carrie was chatting with a friend about her grief, and how painful it persists even after 1 year without her love. Her friend said something that reminded me of a component of therapy – the accepting one. She said: “The hole never fills, but new life will grow around it”. Instead of pushing positive thoughts into the “hole” – an emotional pain, she invited Carrie to accept the pain and acknowledge it. But she also encouraged her to look around. This concept made a lot of sense to me, and I could visualize nature flourishing around a lifeless area, beginning like a green carpet and gradually growing in strength.
The hole may not heal, but around there new life will flourish.
Perhaps you and I have some “holes” in our lives, that seem far away from healing. No worries, keep working on them and don’t forget to take a look around you! You will be amazed at how life has flourished there!
