Cheese Bread “pão de queijo”

Do you know that reading a recipe, writing a grocery list, measuring ingredients helps to develop English language skills? Specially if you enjoy cooking, it is a great way to develop reading and writing skills.
My first job in Canada was as an assistant in a Cooking School. I always asked the chef to send me the recipes ahead of the classes. Then I studied them at home and I was prepared for the classes.
Today I would like to share a recipe with everyone! It is a Brazilian recipe – Pão de queijo. It is delicious!
Ingredients:
- 500 grams of Tapioca Starch (in the original recipe we use “polvilho doce”, but I’ve never found it in Canada)
- 190 ml of water
- 190 ml of milk
- 80 ml of oil
- 3 eggs
- 2 tsp of salt (teaspoon)
- 100 grams of Parmesan
- 200 grams of Mozzarella
Method:
Heat the water, milk and oil in a pan. Pour the liquid mixture into the dry mixture (tapioca+salt). Wait until it’s cold and add eggs and cheese. Mix all ingredients well and make little balls (Before I shape the balls, I keep the dough in the fridge until it is cold. It’s easier to shape). Put on a baking tray. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown. Bon appetit!
I’ve learned this recipe with my friend Angelica, she is also from Brazil, Minas Gerais state. This state is known for good food and the best “pão de queijo”. Thank you Angelica!
