4:25pm
Every day she walks along with her furry friend. An elderly woman with her rolling walker, with slow steps, follows her dog while he enjoys all smells from the street.
I don’t know her name, age or even where her house is. It might be close to my home, maybe next corner. I have no idea about her family, health conditions, hobbies or dreams. I just know part of her routine. A short walk every day at about 4:25pm with her dog. It doesn’t matter if it is cold, even a chilly day doesn’t scare her.
Today, while working on my tasks, between deep breaths, I caught myself looking for her outside. Then I realized that I was waiting for her.
When virtual meetings became a new norm, staying at home more than usual brought us a new kind of connection, a new way to engage. Human connections are the major boost to our day-to-day engagement activities. They bring us joy and well being to perform and commit.
So, when I look at this lady outside, it brings me joy and inspiration. She reminds me to take a break and shows me how to contemplate outside during winter days. Small steps, slow steps. She inspires me to go out!
I hope hugs and interactions are going to be normal again soon. All those learnings from Covid-19 and the new interactions have brought precious lessons to our lives, such as a different perspective on other human beings, greetings to a new neighbor or a praise without expectations.
Meanwhile, I am waiting for you…

P.S. Today I am going to take a walk at the same time she does. Maybe I’ll say hello while we are still wearing masks.
It doesn't matter

No, I didn’t find her on Friday. When I was on the street I kept walking, hoping to find her. But my hands started frozen… then I came back to my home.

This was a very nice story and very well written. Did you take a walk and say “hi” to the lady?

No.. I didn’t find her last Friday. Actually I saw her from my window later. Our walking was not synchronized. But I will keep trying, maybe tomorrow 🙂
