A mixed blessing

Hope is a character strength from transcendence virtue. It is the ability to show optimism, have a positive mindset, expecting the best and working towards it. It is not just being aware and optimistic, hope is also making choices and work to achieve a better life.

When we are facing hard times, hope could be the key to keep going on and turning it into a mixed blessing. Fortunately, hope is able to be developed and it is also contagious. We are all able to spread it.

Nowadays, COVID-19 is the biggest example of a mixed blessing. It brought us good and bad effects. It has been tough, I know. But let’s focus on the good effects. 😉

Working from home is a good one! There are a lot of opportunities to improve this concept. New policies had to be written and adapted for the new way to work. Some companies are including this possibility on their benefits. Perhaps defining a budget for purchasing office equipment? Or new ways to measure performance? Anyway, Human Resources teams and managers are thinking outside the box, being creative.

People have always been creative, but it still impresses me. I have seen two good examples of minimizing contact and preventing spreading the virus.

One of them is a cosmetics store in Seoul. They have created an augmented reality mirror, where customers can try out all cosmetics and get recommendations according to their skin and also check all information about it.

Or the Santa in Denmark, who greeted children from a bubble.

Maybe you have lost your job during the pandemic or lost a loved one. You might also miss hugging your family and friends. A bunch of sad stories. I know. It is not easy and thinking positively sounds nuts.

Having a positive perspective doesn’t mean to ignore negative aspects. Actually, it means don’t give up. Being empathetic with other’s pain is a kind of positive perspective.

There is a movement named “Finding Hope”. They ask us to look for and acknowledge where you find hope and share it with the world. You can find more information here.

So, how do you spread hope? I hope this article can help you find your own way! 😉

Tem sido tempos para se reinventar, olhar pro que dói, criar, se encher de esperança, mesmo no cansaço, na exaustão física e emocional que temos passado.
